Proposed changes to building regulations in 2010 could add thousands of pounds on to Conservatory Prices. The construction industry says that proposals in the draft consultation for the 2010 version of Part L of the Building Regulations will begin to see home extensions become more expensive for people looking to invest in their property.

Consumers who are looking to build extensions could be forced to spend much more in improving the energy efficiency of the rest of their property under the new proposals. Matthew Glover believes the extra cost is likely to be around and additional £2,000 per conservatory.

These new regulations will cover Conservatories for the first time and that means higher carbon reduction targets which would include heating restrictions as well as floor, wall and glass designs to make the conservatory more energy efficient.

Matthew Glover stated, “Conservatory Outlet build their conservatories to a high standard, virtually complying with building regulations. But of course the requirement to upgrade other areas of the property at the same time will add to the cost of the project.”
